Let's Make Your Game! (Blueprint & Game Design Support)
Do you have a vision for a game you want to make?
Do you need support translating that idea to reality?
Let me help you!
The art of game design
My name is Jackson and I've been making indie games since 2018.
Over that time I've experienced many abandoned projects, scope creep, burnout, technical difficulties, overwhelm, lack of motivation, self-doubt, corrupt assets, and about every other problem you can imagine.
On that journey I've learned a thing or two about the process of game design and development, and am more than happy to help you with yours.
Specifically, my expertise and experience is in game design (translating your visions into the actionable things we will need to make in blueprints) and blueprinting (the nitty gritty of designing your blueprint systems so that they're unique, original, scalable, and reasonable in scope.)
Things we can do together
Chances are you've already got an idea of something you want to make. My work involves assisting you in figuring out how to translate that vision into blueprints.
Things I can help with:
- Breaking down the technical details of blueprints systems so that:
- a) They're scalable and you don't paint yourself into a corner
- b) They're not excessive so that you don't waste time developing things you don't actually need
- Game design: Helping you come up with novel and clever solutions to problems so that you can reuse code, avoid unnecessary work, and make a game that is unique and original rather than another carbon copy
- Translating your vision into the specific detailed game systems you'll need. (i.e. game modes, player controllers, function libraries, ability systems, data tables, etc.)
- Connecting you with developers, artists, etc. to help fill out the different departments of your game
- Making blueprints / plugins for you
- Mentoring you in blueprint basics so you can make blueprints / plugins for yourself
- Regularly chat with you / introduce you to chat with other developers to get different perspectives and to stay sane

Making indie games is my passion
I am often blown away by the incredible ideas people have when I ask them about their passion projects.
The issue is that the development process is so unbelievably immense that a lot of the projects never see the light of day.
It also seems that the more unique and original the project, the more difficult it is to find funding and the support you need in our capital-driven society. These games tread new paths, and so investment is perceived as "risky" because there is no precedent to safely compare them to!
It's a shame, because we need more unique, authentic, genuine creative expression in the gaming world more than ever.
In an industry that is currently notorious for churning out generic, exploitative AAA slop, having the courage and integrity to stubbornly refuse to compromise on your creative vision is a revolutionary act.
Making these sorts of games is the most difficult form of game development there is. But it's also the most important and rewarding!
These are the types of games I want to help make. So if this is you, then please click the button and let's talk!
Application process
Please click "I want this" to access the application form.
It will present you with some questions about you, your game, your goals, your skills, how you think we might be able to work together, etc.
What does it cost?
I work on a gift-economy basis -- meaning that I will gift you my skills and insights free of charge in good-faith that you'll return the favour (either to me or somebody I know) in whatever way is natural and easy for you if the opportunity arises. (My friends and I have a lot of projects simultaneously in development, and are always looking for new skills and people to bring into the fold.)
If you want to pay me you can, but I don't work on projects I wouldn't already work on for free.
If you want more information about how the gift economy works, please check out the introduction on my store (https://jacksonnexhip.gumroad.com/) and/or Gift Resources (https://jacksonnexhip.gumroad.com/l/GiftResources). You can also contact me via DM on Discord (https://discord.com/invite/VFSdVKyFWe) if you've got questions.
Let's make your game!
My grandad always used to say "time waits for nobody."
Days turn to weeks, to months, to years in the blink of an eye.
It's never too early or too late to at least start a conversation and see where it goes.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Jackson.
